Sports Medicine Layton
Todd May DO is a highly experienced and dedicated primary care sports and exercise medicine physician at Intermountain Layton Parkway clinic. He cares for patients 7 years and older in Davis and Weber counties. He is skilled in diagnosis and treatment of muscle, tendon, bone and joint injuries. Prior to joining Intermountain Health in 2017, he retired from active-duty Naval Service as a Navy Captain. During his 20 years of dedicated service, he held various leadership positions within Navy medicine including the director of the primary care sports medicine fellowship at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California. Additionally, he served as the director of the Concussion Restoration Care Center at Camp Pendleton and Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, he served as a primary care physician in a shock trauma platoon in Fallujah, Iraq. He is especially grateful his office is located close to Hill Air Force Base to continue caring for service members and their families. Because of his military experience he is skilled in diagnosis and management of muscle, tendon, bone and joint injuries. He also has experience in treating sports related concussions and helped write the joint Veterans Affairs/Department of Defense clinical practice guidelines for concussion imaging in a deployed setting. He also has extensive experience in managing exercise related heat injuries/illness. He has a special interest in combat, collision and contact sports. He has served as a ring-side physician for Utah Youth Boxing. He is on the external advisory committee for Major League Rugby and is the head team physician for the Utah Warriors professional rugby team. He is also part of the team physician pool for USA rugby and was the Match Day Doctor for the Pacific Nations Cup in 2025 and is a world rugby educator. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Sports Medicine and American Academy of Family Physicians. He has authored/co-authored both journal articles and textbook chapters dealing with various musculoskeletal and sports related injuries. Originally from Overton Nevada, he is happy to finally put down roots here in Utah. He lives here with his wife and family, loves all the outdoor activities available here and finally having 4 seasons.
